Dr Laura Edwards

Dr Laura Edwards is a dedicated Obstetrician and Gynaecologist providing expert, personalised care for women across the Gold Coast and Northern New South Wales. She is passionate about supporting women through every stage of life, combining clinical excellence with compassionate care and shared decision-making.

Dr Edwards holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, a Diploma of Child Health, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She completed her specialist training at major tertiary hospitals across Sydney and South East Queensland where she developed a strong foundation in obstetrics and gynaecology. She subsequently gained extensive experience in high-risk obstetrics at Gold Coast University Hospital and undertook advanced training in hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgery, including the management of endometriosis and complex benign gynaecological conditions.

Further broadening her expertise, Dr Edwards completed advanced and fellowship training with the esteemed gynaecological oncology team at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse (Sydney) under the mentorship of Dr Rhonda Farrell. This experience provided valuable skills in the clinical and surgical management of complex gynaecological conditions, multidisciplinary patient care and appropriate and expeditious onward referral of malignant conditions.  

Now based permanently on the southern Gold Coast, Dr Edwards enjoys serving the women of the GC and Northern NSW via her public and private appointments. Alongside her clinical work, she is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and specialist trainees, reflecting her commitment to the future of women’s healthcare.

Dr Edwards is delighted to offer private care at John Flynn Private Hospital, where she is dedicated to building trusted, long-term relationships with her patients and their healthcare providers. She strives to create a supportive and respectful environment where women feel heard, informed, and confident in their care.
