Clinical Practice
Dr Clifton is an Australian-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in surgery of the shoulder, elbow, and upper limb. He has a main focus on shoulder and elbow surgery, particularly in the treatment of arthritis and sporting injuries. His work includes joint replacement surgery, revision replacement surgery, and arthroscopic procedures. Dr Clifton consults publicly at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital and Osborne Park Hospital and privately at Hollywood Private Hospital.
Background and Training
Dr Clifton completed his specialist orthopaedic surgical training in Perth, where he finished first nationally in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) fellowship examination. During this time, he was also elected President of the Australian Orthopaedic Registrar Association. Following his training, he undertook two highly regarded clinical fellowships in upper limb surgery. The first was at the Sydney Shoulder Research Institute in Sydney, followed by further subspecialty training at the internationally renowned Upper Limb Unit at Wrightington Hospital in England. While in Europe, he also visited leading upper limb surgeons in France and Switzerland. He has published numerous scientific papers and contributed to textbook chapters in the field of upper limb surgery. Dr Clifton is an active member of the Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia, the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, and the Australian Orthopaedic Association.
